Here's wishing all the Navy moms a Happy and blessed new year! Can't wait till January 23rd! We are going to be a bunch of proud mommas!
For my friends and family, near and far, I wish you all happiness, good health and good fortune in the New Year. For my Army Mom family, I extend a special thank you. Words alone cannot express my gratitude for your support. I know with your encouragement and faith we will stay Army strong as we continue on our journey. For my new Navy Mom family, I thank you for your words of wisdom and guidance as we travel together on this adventure. You are an amazing group of moms and show me what it means to be Navy proud. I will be raising a glass to toast all of you tonight!
Hi Cat thank you for the information this helps a lot. Happy New Year to all. !
Good Morning...and diannep I know :-) glad you are able to clarify things for us newbies haha!! I wonder how complicated it is for the graduate to get on and off base to see family then during their brief "leave"? Do you happen to know?
Good Morning!
mindyeus: I have been helping on the PIR groups since my son graduated in Feb. 2010. Until the past 6 mos, we had never heard of sailors not being allowed at Navy Lodge during PIR weekend to visit their families. Not sure what has changed and we are not sure if it is all of the time or specific divisions/weekends, but for sure it has happened. Very sad.....one lady about 2 mos ago said theirs were not allowed in Navy Lodge because the "big brass" was staying there....but that just seems crazy to us. We are not telling people not to stay at Navy Lodge, it is a great place to stay. But just know if your sailors stays in GL for A School, it is a possibility that it could happen....not a given though. I tried to get "the word" from an employee at the A School there, but didn't hear back from her....it isn't like the Navy has to consult us here on N4Moms before they make their rules! :-)
Jenn...CRB'sMom,
Navy Lodge is really clean, friendly, and economical as it is only $66/$71 per room and some have kitchenettes available. Also, a continental breakfast and "to go" breakfast sacks are available on PIR morning. Reservations are made under your SR's name.
Recently, it has come to our attention that Sailors that are staying for A school at Great Lakes are not allowed to visit their families' rooms at Navy Lodge according to orders from the Navy, not the Lodge.
The Sailors flying out to A school are fine to visit family in their rooms.
Other favored hotels in the Waukegan/Gurnee area (10 min away) are Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, and Courtyard Marriot. No deposit necessary and call the hotels direct for their Navy graduation rate. These hotels are close to Sarge's Meet & Greet, SuperWalmart, and nearby dining.
Hello Friends!
"The Lord Almighty has sworn,
'Surely as I have planned, so it will be,
and as I have purposed, so it will stand.' "
Isaiah 14:24
Oh okay sorry...had to scroll further down to see the other comments. Ok, so its not Navy Lodge's rules...I wonder why though?? That is odd, does anyone one else think that is odd that the Navy would discourage Sailors from visiting or hanging out there?
Maybe that wasn't from Navy Lodge but from the commanding officers? The lady I spoke to said that all recruits are welcome to hang out with their families...hmmmm Since she said "orders are orders" it sounds like it is coming from the graduates commander...
