~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning All !
...also....remember that there can be no pictures taken outside on the base. Only inside. If you are caught taking them outside, you could have your camera/phone taken from you, and the pictures deleted.
Bubweena: It is a little easier to find your sailor in the PIR Hall since this is inside and his division will be right in front of you, so you don't have to look through the sailors on the entire floor.
No, they must stay in their uniform all day. You and your sailor determine the "meet up" place when he is done checking out at his ship. By the front gate, by the NEX, by the Chapel, etc...he can walk you to the meet up place and tell you he will see you back there soon.
Yes, the sailors flying out will have to be back on base most likely by 8 or 9 pm that night---all flying out will be bussed to the airports later that night, usually in the wee hours of the morning, to wait for flights...some will wait most of the day at the airports. However, since they have a long walk back to their ships, they will all want to be on base at least a good 20-30 minutes before that. They are warned of the punishment if they are late coming back (my son's group was told that they could be retained at RTC if late...I find this hard to believe since they would incur change fees on the tickets, but you never know! My son made us take him back on base 45 minutes before curfew....just in case).
I know it must be so difficult to have a son out of contact in Navy bootcamp and the other headed to Korea. SO sorry that they didn't get to say goodbye to each other, but hoping they can skype once your sailor is in A School and has computer access again.
Wow, you certainly have lots going on right now. I'm so sorry...hoping that things will start getting better for you soon! :-)
There are no outside vendors on the base...you can visit the NEX with your sailor when you meet up again, although because of the crowds in there, we recommend that anyone who doesn't have to go in there to order piks, etc ...instead go to the larger NEX off base (Green Bay Rd). Not as crowded, much larger.
Things will get better once your sailor is at A School and you can chat/text/email/skype so hang in there. Better days are coming!
Jamie: They should have already updated their guest lists....sorry. They probably did that this past week. Once they do that, they can't be changed. Hope he can watch the Livestream offbase (many of the hotels have it in the lobby or in another room or he can watch on his own computer) and then he can meet up with you offbase after PIR.
You are very welcome, Rachel.
Yes, Erin, I plan on making a trip to hobby lobby and plans for decorating the door:))) I am so excited!!!!
I think if I can get it together long enough to think creatively that I will see what I can come up with to decorate our door as well!
Dianne: Thank you SO much for the information!! I appreciate your help!! I am sure I will have many questions to come as my SR and I take this journey and I am grateful for sites such as this one and others. The 24th needs to hurry up!! :) I am SO proud of all the SRs who are working hard to finish strong!! They GOT this!!
No letter again today, but I did get my PIR ribbons! In one week I'll be celebrating with my son!!!
Anyone going to decorate their doors at the hotels? I think I'm gonna go shopping for a few blue, grey/silver, or white things…..
Rachel: When my son was there, we waited between 30 and 45 minutes before he showed back up from checking out at his ship after PIR. I thought somehow, he had passed us by and was at the front gate. I walked to see (we were riding back on the shuttle)...nope, not there. He finally showed up (his Navy piks in hand!)...said he was saying goodbye to many of his shipmates....sigh...I don't think it normally takes that long though.
And yes, they usually have to be back at 8 or 9 pm that night, since they will be on buses to the airports just a few hours later to wait for their flights.
