~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good deal. I might try to delete the posts then so I don't confuse anyone.

THanks for all you provided here, Lloyd.  You had it "spot on!"  But it really is easier than they think!  The sailors are very helpful there in helping others find their seats!

Comment by Lloyd on December 16, 2013 at 10:00am

diannep. that is good to know. From earlier posts I had seen, it looked like we might have to figure it out on our own.

Comment by diannep on December 16, 2013 at 9:56am

We were the 2nd lowest numbered division when there.  Our division section was next to last after we walked into PIR Hall.  We had 9 divisions in our PIR group.  They march in order too into PIR Hall.  There will be Honor Recruits with Division Number signs in front of your sections.  Your division will be in front of you during the ceremony.

Good Morning All !

lovemynavyson, if you think your SR's PIR is on 01/24, you can go ahead and make reservations for that weekend. If you stay at the Navy Lodge, you can cancel or make changes all the way up to 6PM on the planned date of check-in. A lot of the other hotels that I looked at had the same policy for cancellations. I originally booked the Navy Lodge for 01/17 weekend thinking my son's division might graduate with that TG. His division is graduating 01/24 and I called and they changed the date with no problem. They might not run out of rooms, but I like to book early to play it safe.

Great to see that some of you got phone calls.

MOMom44, The Navy Lodge is a great hotel, and it has recently been remodeled. Your son can have some private time with his wife, but will have to report back to base each night.

Yea--I finally found this group!  My daughter-in-law got my son's call yesterday and she was so excited.  Said he is doing really well and was quite positive.  Such a relief!  I just made our reservations at the Navy Lodge Great Lakes.  Rate was only $66/night and we booked two rooms--one for us and one for my son, his wife and their baby.

1ProudMom I lost count of how many times I heard my son say love you, I was so very happy to hear his voice and he sounds so happy and he was even laughing during the phone call! said he made many friends there and really does love it! so glad you also go a call, been waiting so impatiently all day for my phone to ring, then when his dad heard me talking he asked if it was our son and I told him to get out here in the living room with me and I put him on speaker and we both were so very happy to talk to him, he said he had so much more he wanted to say but he wanted to give others time to talk to their loved ones but that was the highlight of my weekend! well since his last call on Thanksgiving! oh he sounded so good!! he really likes the RDC's said they are not bad at all and that the training was not bad in fact guess we prepared him a little more than he needed as we told him all about mine and my husbands boot camp experiences!  LOL  I am on cloud nine right now!! I so needed to hear from him and know he was ok,

Joni, I got my call tonite!:) just like yours, he sounded so good! He said it isnt as bad as he was expecting, and he is a section leader. He said they are a push division and are cramming in all of their training in 6 and 1/2 weeks. He apparently had an ear infection and perforated his ear drum during the swim jump. He has to catch up a little but doing ok. he also said he is leaving out on Saturday for A school, so I am going to change my flight. i feel so much better after hearing his voice, and i even got the "i love you" :-0
