Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I do not know about flying out of Milwaukee. It would have been nice since we flew in that way and kind of knew the way:-). I messed up and didn't make it to Sarge's meet and greet. We had a rental car and we were going to drive to see him off but with the snow and not knowing the way we about missed out. We found a taxi and at least were able to get his stuff to him. But he will be in CA and much closer (and enjoyable weather ) where we will get to spend more time visting.

Hi diannep yes Sarges suggestion to enter on Ohio street was on point. It was also the same directions given on a map by Navy Lodge. We had a great stay at the lodge and I definitely recommended it. Thanks Navy for moms all your hints, suggestions and advice made our trip enjoyable.

That is what I would like to ask everyone else. Tell us if any of our N4Moms veteran info was incorrect, offer any other info you think will be helpful to the future PIR groups, etc. We get our info from you all since most of us had sailors graduate a good while ago and things change! Just post here and we will pass it along!
Did anyone use Sarge's hint when driving to RTC...bypassing it, turning around, and approaching from the opposite direction, easy left turn into RTC? If so, did that still work?
Congrats to all of your sailors! I hope that many enjoyed the airport visits today!
nextstep: Did you hear (or see) of any sailors flying out of Milwaukee? We have heard they are going to start if they haven't already....so they would then fly out of 3 airports. Let us know what you know about that! Thanks!

Thanks again for all the help and support. I was very glad for some of the suggestions. Like flying into WI it was an easy drive to our hote,the Ramada which had a shuttle right to graduation. Now our sailor is enjoying warm weather while we are still here in the snow:-) best wishes to all of you and your sailors.

Hi Carol65: I'm in the airport right now, I saw the USO. I'm just waiting to our Sailors in order to get the gate pass. I think they're gonna leave soon from the base.

All planning for airport visits....please do not forget ID for each in your group....you will need this for the gate pass to wait with your sailor until the plane departs. OHare's USO is before security....USO personnel will be there to help you. It takes the sailors a while to check in so if you are out there before 4 a.m., you may see them all in line to check luggage, etc. No worries...you will find your sailor there! Just make sure you are at the correct airport!
Sarge will have good airport info for you.

Carol65: Yes, my son told me same time at 12:00midnight. But I think the best we will do, we will just where the USO counter and asked if the sailor already there or what airlines. I told my son to call me of what terminal we can see them. What time are you going to the airport? If in case I will know where, I'll keep u posted here. Pls let me know too if u have an update. I'm texting Sarge now for some info. My son said to meet him at the airport at 12:00. Am his flight leaves at 7:30am
He just did not have the airline or gate #
