~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!

Hi everyone! I received a surprise call on Sunday and she sounded great! I've had to take a step back from reading all the posts because my heart was breaking for some of you and I was stressing way too much. And then the form letter came and I ran straight out to the PO after addressing properly. I was so industrious around the house on Saturday - it was like a huge weight had been lifted. I didn't realize I was getting depressed although the moping around should have alerted me. I was watching TV Sunday night when her phone call came in. She had 10 mins to talk and hearing how positive she sounded was so uplifting! She did say that she thought she'd be on the "list" Tuesday to have at least 2 of her 4 wisdom teeth (my child is full of wisdom...teeth) out as well as a root canal they caught on X-ray. Her wisdom teeth are impacted - nothing in sight, and they are sideways. She also was not quite "there" on her PT reqs. With the shortened timeline to graduation and the down days for her teeth, please say a little prayer for her that she will be able to pass her PFTs in time. Thanks so much! PS, I would never have considered myself a worrier. BC is bringing out the worst in me! Ha!

Thanks :)

MRSMom, sometimes they will get to make up a call if they miss it for dental reasons. Hopefully you will get a call soon :)

Thanks Diannep.  I sure hope it comes soon.  Before I need a crash helmet from banging my head against a wall... :)

MRSMom:  No, unfortunately you will not be called if your SR had wisdom teeth out.  I bet that is what happened....or he had watch.  There are many times when a division will call, but some are at appts, watch, etc and are unable to call with their division.  But I know you can't wait to hear his voice (and him yours!) so hope you get a call soon!

I need to ask a question of you ladies.  My son arrived at bc on the 8th.  We got the box, we got the form letter, but we have not heard anything from him since he arrived. He called us from the bus just 20 minutes before arriving so we didn't expect the "I'm Here" call, however, I have since read that the division has been allowed to make calls (last Saturday) home and our SR didn't. I have also read that if they had issues with wisdom teeth, they were not allowed to call.  Our son has his wisdom teeth (had???) and I was wondering, if they take them out, does the family get a call to let us know?  Just wondering why we haven't heard from him when we know others in the same division have made calls.

For those who have some free time (does that still exist??  HA), take your time and explore this site.  That is the best way to learn.  I know for those accessing from phones, it is a bit more tricky.  Best to do it on a computer if possible.  Use the tabs at the top of this page...explore the "groups" tab.  Want to find a group where your your sailor will be attending A School?  Put in the city of the A School in the "Groups/search bar."  Want to find a group for your sailor's job in the Navy?  Put that in there too.

I was overwhelmed by this site when I first got on it over 4 years go...but now...after so much exploring and experimenting,  I think I can do it blindfolded!  Don't get discouraged.  There is info all over the place on here.  Most of the info that is in the FB groups was taken from this site.  Read the "pages" section to the right and above on this page.  Go back to previous PIR groups (there is a PIR most every Friday---just put PIR (then mm-dd-yyyy) in the Groups/search to find a previous PIR group.  You can read through the groups without joining them and learn alot from those pages.)

Here's a PIR group to start with.  They just PIRed last week.  Just click on the link below and read!
