OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you, our SR called and he was crying when he called.  Apparently, they told him something is wrong with his grandpa, but didn't mention what.  He probably was thinking the worst.  But he has decided to try and see if he can come home Sunday to see his grandfather.  Hopefully, he will be able to see him, God willing.

Sugrnspicy:  So very very sad about this with your SR's grandpa.  Prayers for all around and for your eventual telling your SR about it.  So sorry.....

Bobbi, did the ALL CAPS work for you?  Otherwise, I have found that because I have an Apple desktop, that not all printing programs allow you to print in Safari browser.  If that's the case, you need to download Foxfire browser.  Open the Foxfire browser and print through that browser.  I know I have been unable to print some of my Mary Kay docs and coupon printing programs with Safari, and had luck by using Firefox.  Just another option, if you are using an Apple computer.

Please send prayers for my SR's grandfather.  He is the best Grandpa, any child could ever ask for.  He is also a Vet.  But right before my son went into BC his grandfather broke his hip.  He is also a diabetic, and has been on kidney dialysis.  After the hip surgery, it is common for the patient to be transferred to a nursing home because it requires daily physical therapy to recuperate.  But, because of his dialysis he had to stay at the hospital.  He appeared to be doing good last week, and they finally transported him to the nursing home.  But a few days later, he developed an infection in the leg, due to the diabetes.  They had said it was possible that they would have to amputate his leg.  Today I found out from my ex-husband that our SR's grandpa is dying.  He now has pneumonia, and they don't know how long he has. Because of his condition he can't get his dialysis, and it's causing him to regress.   Grandpa was supposed to come to PIR and see his grandson graduate.  In fact, I was hoping to have him hand our SR his challenge coin after PIR.  My ex husband contacted our SR's recruiter.  We were told that we could either have them tell our SR about his grandpa, or just wait until after PIR.

We've decided to call the officer (I'm not sure of the correct rate) and have our SR call home to tell him. He is man enough to decide what he wants to do. It looks as though Grandpa may not make it much longer. But we're still waiting for our SR's call. We will encourage him to not miss BS, the cap ceremony or PIR. And explain that it is what Grandpa would want. Grandpa keeps going in and out of consciousness, and now because of his terminal condition, they have him all doped up on morpine.  Hopefully, they will allow him to come home for a day before BS to see his grandpa one last time. We only live 1 1/2 hrs away from Great Lakes. What would you do?

Bobbi:  Like kat said, ALL CAPS should solve your problem, hopefully, on the gate pass!  Sometimes people have to try a different browser but lately, we haven't heard that is a problem.

Hello ladies. I'm having trouble printing my gate pass. It keeps saying I've entered the wrong password. Anybody else having the same issues? Any luck in correcting it?

Another driving hint is to head toward RTC on Buckley, stay in the left lane (line of cars waiting to get to RTC on your right), bypass RTC, turn around, and approach from opposite direction.  Easy left turn into RTC.  A mom in the last PIR group said that hint was a godsend and worked great!
