OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Melany225 My son is ship staff and it involves a lot of paperwork and doing things when the rest of the group are training (I think it's something like secretarial work). They get chosen because the RDC's believe they will still be able to pass and have the extra responsibility. Yes, be proud, be very proud!

Hello all. I received a letter from my SR yesterday. She said she has been put on Ship Staff a couple days ago. Does anyone know what this is? All she really said about it is that she must be doing good because being on it is a privilege.

Thanks Diannep... that actually is a bigger relief I was afraid we would hardly see him at all.

GRAD and go, ladies!  HA!  It is funny because so many say GRAB and Go!  Graduate and Go is the term!  I bet this is what the recruiters say though...because really, when you think of it, you do Grab them (to hug them) and then they GO!  :-)

My brother was a grab and go. (16 years ago). We still got to spend about 6 hours b together, and we certainly made the best of it :) (I think there is a pic or two in my profile from that day at ohare).
Just think. ......21bdays and are butts are going to be planted in seats at the drill hall, tissues at the ready in our shaking hands :D

Good Morning All !

JetersMom:  It was a term called Grad and Go....but it is no longer used.  They used to sometimes fly out on PIR Day, but it has been a very long time since they did that and RTC says they no longer do it.  Most will be bussed to the airports sometime Fri night...usually in the wee hours of Sat. morning...to wait for flights on Sat.

And, yes, you can bring personal items for him....give them to him at the airport...he should be able to fit in his carryon Navy-issued backpack.  It is best not to give him a separate carryon....he will have the backpack, a large seabag, and garment bag (uniforms) to keep up with, the last 2 are checked items...but once he lands, that is alot to keep up with.  So incorporating those personal items in his existing luggage is good.  You can mail any extra items to him.

Laura, my SR is leaving for San Antonio, we have not gotten alot of info as of today but his recruiter told me he was what they called a Grab and Go. We will get some time after PIR when all of his paperwork is completed, then we can meet him at the airport. We figured we woud do that find a place to eat see him for a couple of hours then head back to our hotel for a couple hours of shut eye before we make the 17 hour drive back. We were also told this is where we can give him is personal effects. Sarge had told me to bring boxer shorts and chewing gum, he said every SR always asks for chewing gum.

Proudmamma:  Each division designs its own flag.  These designs are very unique and creative!  The design will also then become part of their division tshirts (which they can order ---and you can too after PIR....see the "link" in the pages section under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX, above and to the right).  Quite an honor for him to design this!  He must have some great artistic talent!
