~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just putting this idea out there for your group.  It is totally voluntary.  Some of our past PIR groups have gotten together and put together State themed gift baskets/boxes/bags--or really, any great idea would work--to be raffled off at Sarge's Meet & Greet on the Thursday evening before PIR.  This is great fun and would help offset the costs of Sarge and his wife as they do these Meet and Greets every week to help our Navy families.  If someone would like to start a Basket Project for this group, please let Sarge know and start a discussion up in the Discussion Forum for the ladies here to pop into to express their interest~~  Thank you~

 Good Morning Ladies

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Laura☆Ship 13★DIV 102 (oncnurse) I could not have said it better. Count down is on I cant believe we have only 24 days until we see our sailors.

Good Morning!  Has anyone received Battlestations dates yet? It may be a bit too early for this group, but be sure to ask your SR in a letter if they know when they do those.  That is their final test.  They are sailors after that.  We cannot post the dates on here or on FB, but you can post that you have a date for a certain division and let others private message you on here for the date.  This group most likely will be starting them during PIR week.

This might be a duplicate and I accidentally deleted my last post:

It was hard getting through the weekend w/o a call - even if our SRs prepared us for the impending "no calls until BS week".  I was hoping that since the words "rumor has it" came before the news, maybe there was still a chance???  I think the RDC's are pulling back the reigns a bit after allowing the luxury of 3 calls in 1 and 1/2 weeks.

It's time for them to dive in and dive deep.  They have a lot to fit in prior to BS-21.  My SR did talk about having a strong unit in DIV 101 and 102 (my sr = 102).  I feel confident that they will con't to hone their skills, while con't to learn more every day, and apply it to how to work as a tight unit. Learning to recognize when someone appears to need, or asks, for help, jump in & help that person, living the golden rule in it's finest meaning; and when you need help, be humble and admit it and ask for help....in our language, at least, their is no "I" in team (a favorite motto at my job as well).  A Team is only as strong as it's weakest link, and I have a feeling, that the next two weeks they will be developing the skills needed to recognize the times when they will need to take the lead, as well as following when it is time for them to follow -  of course, perfecting those assessments and follow-through is key.  THAT my friends is what with get our SRs through BS-21, and I think that our letters should reflect the fact that we know that they can and WILL do this.

My SR in his letters spoke often about getting certain letters from me at just the right time - when he felt he was hitting his wall.  He told me that reading my encouraging words and statements of absolute unwavering belief in him is what got him through the mental block.  I know you are already doing these things for your recruit, but it doesn't hurt for me to say it aloud for my own reassurance.

Right now, most of the SRs want any tidbits of news they can get.  My son specifically asked for "pop culture" news.  I'm pretty certain things they learn from their letters are shared amongst smaller group, that then get taken to different smaller groups.  This helps them connect - finding they have similar areas of interest beyond wanting to be a Sailor, and these times of communication are the ones that make them BOND beyond the normal "going through this together bond".  These bonding moments are the key precursor to outstanding TEAMWORK!  As an efficient team, they'll handle any emergency  thrown at them during BS - by using their critical thinking skills, knowing each others strengths & weaknesses, & how to use effective communication skills with one another.  Their ROCKING IT!

It's coming down to the wire.  They just completed firearm safety & now I believe the use of firearms is this weeks task, as well as upcoming fire fighting skills.

I so looking forward to meeting all of you Proud Momma's at the 3/6 meet & greet.  It will give us time to cry and hug each other and thank one another for support. . . .all before the next emotionally charged & chaotic (in a good way) day!

I don't write too often on the page, But I read every thread, every day.  I know that some of us (through facebook and here) have talked about getting pictures taken together and with our Sailors! During this 'down time' (not being able to talk to our SRs) we can start talking about logistics of things we want to do, as a group possibly, the night before and the day of PIR up until you hear those words . . ."LIBERTY CALL" (gave you the chills, didn't it c:).

I plan on creating a summary of my SR's letters, specific to the brother divs 101/102, but I will do that on the appropriate page for the other DIV moms.

Happy Week to all!

Laura

Question:  My SR lost his driver's license just before going to BC.  He went to the DMV and ordered a duplicate.  Apparently, they said it could be about 4 wks to get the new ID.  They gave him temp paperwork until then.  This with his old, expired Driver's License was enough at MEPS and signing in.  The plan was, when the driver's license was mailed to his dad, we would bring it to PIR or mail it to him. I recently reminded his dad to bring it to PIR or mail it, if he hasn't already.  He said he hasn't gotten it yet.  It's been 5 weeks now.  I told him to contact the DMV and see what the delay is, and when to expect it, because our SR will need it to fly out to San Diego after PIR.  He said, "okay, but he does have his old expired Driver's License and his Military ID".  Will this be sufficient to fly after PIR or what would you recommend, in case we don't get the current Drivers License in time?
