OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If anyone is interested in helping me in a "You got it kid!" Mail campaign, the address for the FIT div/less than a minute for run is listed on this website as:

Ship 4 DIV 2347

3600 Ohio Street

Great Lakes, 60088-7103

Some of you already know his name, if you need it, just message me.

He told me he gets mail daily.

I profoundly appreciate your support and encouragement.  You all have got me through the past 2 months, I couldn't have done it without you and this wonderful website!!!

I somehow deleted my last post. division 102 moms, please encourage your new sailors to write to my son as he reattemps his PFA. I have heard many times from his shipmates that he was a good leader that his shipmates looked up to. I am hoping that they will find it in their heart to write a word of encouragement at this time when he is doubting himself. congrats to all the new Sailor moms. we did it together. enjoy your weekend with your brand new sailors!!!! you can private message me for his new address. thanks ladies!!!
