~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good afternoon everyone,

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Not sure if everyone has lodging for PIR but wanted to pass on the Springhill Suites Chicago Waukegan/Gurnee 4101 Fountain Square Place Waukegan Illinois 60085 USA  1-847-688-9800 has a king or queen suite with PIR discount for $84.00 a night. Alot of the reviews for the hotels surrounding RTC were not very good but the reveiws for here on travelocity were 4 star and 5 star. I booked Saturday and she had 26 rooms left for that weekend. Sarges Meet and Greet is right across the street at the  Sundance Saloon and they have a shuttle to and from the hotel but we are thinking we are going to use Sarges. Just wanted to pass along.

So, I get a summons to be on jury duty and available for the entire month of March.  I called to see if I can be rolled over to the following month of April, since I will fight, kill and steal to be at PIR LOL.  I was told I can have the 2 days of March 6-7 as listed unavailable for jury duty...PSHEW!!!  I was going to start to get UGLY!!! LOL

Laura:  They update their guest lists about a week before PIR.  They cannot be changed after that.  So you would need to get the info to your SR in the next 2-3 weeks for sure.

Comment by Anchors-A-Way☆Class 1429 M on February 2, 2014 at 6:31pm

What is the date that the SRs need to have their final PIR guest list in?  My SRs Uncle is unsure if he can make it.  They are on a 'shut down' which means all personnel are on mandatory overtime w/no vacation days - as a reactor gets maintenance.  He thought it would be no trouble getting time off as ALL of his superiors are Navy Nuke Vets, but.....

It'll really suck if he can't go, as he is one of the main reasons my son joined (besides all of the obvious reasons; serving his country, the experience, etc.).  But, this will allow for his step father to go in his place.  Just need to know when that 'drop dead' date is, as I haven't heard from my brother.

Thanks in advance for your Replies!!

Laura
