~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

navmomkim,

My Sailor daughter flew out to Pensacola from Midway on Saturday morning.  There was also a group that flew out to Texas early that morning, like around 6:00 am.  Hope that helps with your planning~~

navymomkim:  To add to Lala's post...unfortunately they will not know their flight plans until right before PIR so there is no way to coordinate yours with theirs.  The only thing I can recommend is to join their A School group on here (just go to GROUPS, put in the city of their A School, and you should get some choices to join).  You can ask on there which airport their sailors flew from.  That is no guarantee that it will be the same for your sailor, but if you see a pattern that one airport is mostly used, you could take your chances and maybe book your flights through that one....just in case.   But like Lala said, occasionally they do not fly out until Sunday...so book your flights back then if possible.

Good Morning All !

Good morning Navy Family <3

That is GREAT advice from that new Sailor, thanks for sharing that Diannep :)

Rhonda, I replied to your friend request and sent you the link for my website. Take a look at the ribbons and everything else and let me know if you have any questions at all. My cell number was in the message I just sent you and I am in the east coast time zone :)

navymomkim, they usually fly out on Saturday, they are bused to the airports, (could be either one) in the wee hours of Saturday morning and their flight could be anytime from 6am to later in the evening. It just depends on the flight availability. It could even be on Sunday if there weren't enough flights available. For that reason we recommend you stay until later in the day on Sunday if at all possible. That way you can spend the extra time with your Sailor at the airport before you head back home :)

Congrats Ced Mom, we are so excited for you and happy to have you here :)

My son left from Memphis on 1/13. Got the box 1/17 and the form letter on 1/21. I was so excited he said his graduation date is 3/7/14. He is in Ship 13 DIV 102. I've already talked to him twice. His rate is going to be CTR. Can't wait to see him!!!!

our sailor's A-school will be in texas.  does anyone know how that works?  will he leave Friday, Saturday or Sunday?  Do they fly out from Chicago O'Hare or Chicago Midway.  Or do we find all this out last minute?  trying to coordinate family flights back home after PIR.  It would be great to fly out same day, from the same airport, if possible.

Posted today by a female sailor who just graduated today.  You may want to pass these words along to your SRs!

""""So today I just graduated boot camp and wanted to pass on a few tricks and tips to the new recruits and future sailors in the U.S. Navy. The most important rules are NEVER argue with your RDC's even if your right. Follow your last order first. Basically just be quiet and listen. You may think that your RDC's are not doing something right but believe me when I say as a recently graduated sailor they know way more than you realize. I had some of the best RDC's here and I will always look up to their knowledge and insight. If you want a divisional job I would recommend either head crew or laundry crew. Those jobs may not be your favorite thing to do but believe me it's worth it. You get taken care if by your RDCs if you do a good job. Basically listen and stay out of trouble. The hardest part about boot camp is staying awake when it's time to be awake.""""

Ask him, rhonda, but yes, you can do that.  If moving over to GL for A School, it is an easy thing to do.  Those students have Daytime Liberty throughout the weekend...so can take personal things back with them on each return.  Those flying out will need to make sure what they take will fit in their Navy-issued backpack.  And these items must be given to them at the airport, they cannot take anything back with them to RTC after Liberty.
