~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Div. 918 is making phone calls! I'm so relieved because I didn't hear from my son last weekend when they earned a phone call, he had pink eye. He said he aced his last personal inspection, did well on the final PFA today and they have their final test tomorrow. Then Battle Stations! Still no official date. I guess the gas chamber went well, though one guy fainted and they had to call an ambulance but he ended up being okay. He again just emphasized what a great group this division is and how well they all get along with each other. That is so comforting to hear. Just ten more days to go! Also, he did say that they ended up not performing at last week's graduation but they will for sure this Friday. Hang in there moms, we are close!

You will just hand write in your sailors information.

Thanks popeyesgirl...I didn't know if it was my computer not allowing me to do that.  I will hand write too.

Comment by popeyesgirl on March 4, 2014 at 1:28pm

MommaD728 - I wrote the information in by hand - hope that's ok!

Good morning all!

I have a really dumb question...I just printed out my gate pass.  I was unable to type in my SR's name, ship, division.  Are we allowed to just hand write that information?

Thanks!

We have read some negative posts about the PIR shuttle situation up there from the 02/28 group.  There is some competition going on, and some underhandedness going on too.  Apparently, some of hotels/cab drivers are asking for full payment upfront for both ways...rather than letting the families pay for each way when it happens.  Then, when the family goes to pick up the cab to return, they end up in another cab that charges them again.

So my suggestion would be to use Sarge's shuttle service.  He only charges for each way---not the whole thing up front, so if you take another cab back because you get mixed up and miss Sarge's, you should only be charged one way.  Contact Sarge to book his services:  847 212 0246   (text or call) or email: johnspadaro@att.net  or sign up at his MeetandGreet.

Just as heads up!  So sad that people are doing this, but there is lots of competition between the cab business with the Navy families in that area.

Just messaged you, Proudnayvmom.

Gate pass/parking pass is the same thing, Dittersmom.  It allows your car onto the base.  If taking the shuttle, or parking off base and walking to gate, it is not needed.  But a good thing to have just in case!

The other gate pass is at the airport if your sailor is flying out.  You will get this from the airlines counter so you can get through security and visit with your sailor until departure time.  Bring ID for all members in your group!

Good Morning All !
