~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I think she was talking about proving that you have auto insurance before driving on base....this would go for rentals as well.....please correct me if I'm wrong.

I was also wondering what type of insurance you were talking about Dittersmom?

Dittersmom........just wondering what type of insurance you were talking about having to show?  I have looked around a little and don't see anything about insurance.

Good Morning All !

Dittersmom:  Yes, we were dropped off by shuttle right by a check in gate when we were there.  If concerned, drop Sarge an email and ask him about it:

johnspadaro@att.net

Momof5:  The shuttles are actually taxis and most are minivans, so shouldn't be a problem getting your group there and back.  The shuttles run for a couple of hours after PIR is over, and Sarge's probably runs even longer.  I would email Sarge also to ask questions.

I thought about that too Dittersmom but wondered about waiting for my SR.  We will have 4 plus two toddlers.  How does that work, for those waiting for their SR to leave with them off base?  (Hopefully).

Diannep thank you so much for your past information.  Momof5 is right, we couldn't do this with out you.

I am trying to figure out the best way to get to graduation. I thought that I would just have Sarge take us over and back.  That way we wouldn't have to worry about parking, showing insurance and walking from the parking lot to the ceremony hall.  Do you know where we check in and if you do is it close to where Sarge would drop us off?

Dittersmom,

The coins are known generally as Challenge Coins and there is a little video on Craig's www.pirgifts.com site if you click on any of the coins there is a video that tells the history.  He designed the coins relating specifically to the RTC ships that your SR is housed on.  There are also coins for their ratings (jobs) and rate (E-1 Seaman Recruit, E-2 Seaman Apprentice, E-3 Seaman, E-4 Petty Officer Third Class. etc..)

Personally, I only got the Ship 03 USS Hopper when my Sailor daughter graduated Boot Camp, the IT Information Technician when she finished A school (engraveable with their rate, name, and date of graduation), and now a Petty Officer Third Class (IT3 for her) because she earned this rate coming in 2nd in her A school class.  So, I only got the meaningful ones and didn't order one as she moved from E-2 to E-3.  Other sites carry these coins too but at least get the RTC ship one from Craig to start.  I also got an "I Love My Sailor" for myself!
