~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I posted this in another group but I'm wondering if it's only those of us with female SRs that arrived at BC January 15-18th that haven't received the letter yet.

@diannep- Thank you! Thank you!

Comment by diannep on January 24, 2013 at 1:01pm

Yes, GB, but we suggest that you scan or print the pictures on the back of your letters or on another sheet of paper.  That way, the envelope isn't too thick...which makes them have to open in front of RDCs....and they can store them better in their limited space.

JazzysMom:  Yes, many of the ladies call the recruiters who get the ship/div from the computer.  But be sure to check this info with the form letter info...sometimes they are different---form letter address is the correct one.  Any letters sent to the recruiter SR's address will arrive, if it turns out to be different, but may take a bit longer.

And, GB, you all are never pesty!  We are on here to help you with questions!  So ask anything and everything!  :-)

@Jazzys Mom- trust me - I need to learn patience... I was calling my sons recruiter all the time... I needed details and info... this is how bad I am - I just made my reservations for the hotel today!  LOLOL

Comment by GB on January 24, 2013 at 12:44pm

are we allowed to send pictures?

Comment by Jazzy's Mom on January 24, 2013 at 11:59am

Thanks GB. It sounds like you received your's before your son finished P-Days. Interesting. I will try my best to be patient. Something I need to work on anyway lol.

Comment by GB on January 24, 2013 at 11:24am

I don't know about the "letters" and such.  I know that my son left on the 16th and started on the 17th... two days ago I got his "box" of all his civilian clothing and items.  And I also got a generic form letter - stating who could come to gradution and pass codes and basic info with hotel infomration.... He hasn't called other than the day he arrived to say he made it.  Hopefully you will get your letter soon!

Comment by Jazzy's Mom on January 24, 2013 at 11:17am

Just wanted to say good morning everyone! Until I receive the official form letter that gives the exact info I probably will be pretty quite. I want to make sure I'm in the right group before I start blabbing away lol, plus I have this site up while I'm at work, so I can peek but sometimes I cannot reply.

If I am understanding how P-Days, P-Hold Days and all the other days work, This would be my SR's 5th P-Day since Monday was a Federal Holiday. So I have a question....

For those of you who's SRs arrived at BC on the 16th, 17th, 18th or 19th...how do you know what your SR's Ship and Division is since from what I understand of the process the letter isn't mailed until the end of the Processing Week? Which would be today those that arrived on the 16th.

Did you get if from their Recruiter? This curious mind wants to know lol.

Comment by GB on January 24, 2013 at 9:49am

I am so glad to see everyone asking all kinds of questions... I don't feel so pesty!  LOLOL...I see that everyone seems to have their kids on Ship 13 Division 115 - my son is on Ship 13 but he is in Division 116.

By the way- I hope to see you all on the 15th!  it will truly be wonderful to see faces to all these emails.  I feel better knowing that there are others with questions and feelings the way I do.  Thanks guys!
