Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome to all of the newbies to this site!  Glad you found us!

Red Rover:  That is what we N4Moms are here for....to answer any questions you have...so ask away!   :-)

FTLW has posted the Community Guidelines under the MEMBERS photo box, to the right and above, in the PAGES section.  All please read through them when you can.

A suggestion:  If you see someone post on here with your same division number, feel free to friend request that person (click on their photo or screen name to go to their page, and select "Add as Friend" which is on the left of their page).  You can then talk privately---and share more personally--- about what your SRs are experiencing!  Eventually we will have discussion groups on here for the brother divisions.

Remember, if your division number is "even", the "odd" number before it is the brother division....so---each set of brother divisions starts with the "odd" number.  They will know each other well...they will train together.  So you may want to friend request the ladies in the brother division as well!

Good Morning!

OK, FTLW:  Love your popeye pik!

Comment by diannep on January 23, 2013 at 9:56pm

...should add to my post below that they not only lose some SRs, but they will gain some back from earlier PIR groups....ones who were delayed in training and are now ready to resume. But they never get back up to the 88....they may graduate with between 65 - 75.

Comment by diannep on January 23, 2013 at 9:55pm

Red Rover:  The ships are their barracks (where they live) and there are several divisions in each ship.  Each division has a brother division (sometimes the 800 or 900 divisions don't)....and they train together---each division starts off with an average of 88 SRs (recruits)---but will lose some to being discharged or asmoed (setback in training, joining later PIR group when ready to resume training).  We live in S. Florida so when my son went up, he too had the cold weather (same time of year as now).  But they have great warm trenchcoats (warm lining that zips out), boots, face  masks, warm gloves, etc.  My son never got cold.  He said they had to shovel snow some, but if it was really really cold outside, they didn't have to march in it.

I know, it looks like something out of a scary movie. Glad I don't have to be there this weekend for PIR.
