~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@gb. As to your question about spending time with your sailor after pir. If your sailor is going to A school anywhere besides great lakes you will have Friday afternoon with them. They will have to go back to rtc at night. They will be bussed to the airport around midnight. You can go to the airport and visit with them on Saturday morning.
If your sailor is staying in great lakes you will have a few minutes after pir to spend with them. Then they will be bussed over to the other base where they will be checked in. This takes between three and four hours. Then you will be able to pick them up and spend the rest of Friday with them until they have to report back to the barracks that night. You will also be able to spend Saturday and Sunday with them. They have to be back on base at night and if they have watch. Hope this helps.

Hi. I am also one of the veteran moms on this site. My son graduated from boot camp last January. He is currently deployed. I look forward to helping you on this journey. Welcome to the navy family.

Hello everyone!  I actually got my "box" of his stuff returned and I got my letter yesterday.  I am from Pittsburgh PA.  My son will be graduting on the 15 of March.  I am just wondering about the information for Gradution... do people just go up for one day and then go home or after they graduate do you get to spend time with your son/daughter and if so - how long.

I finally received the letter, my SR has a PIR of 3/15.  YAY!!!  I'm so excited!!!   I'm looking forward to connecting with everyone, maybe our SRs have met or know each other or may even be in the same division or ship.

Good Morning Ladies!  Welcome!  I'm Betsy and another "veteran" who also helps out on here.  My sailor is my youngest son (out of 5 children).  He enlisted a few months out of graduation from high school and will now be 21 in 3 weeks.  He is a CTT who is currently deployed on an aircraft carrier.  We also have a future son in law who just finished his 5 years in the Navy as an ET in Hawaii, so hopefully I can answer some questions that you may have as well.   Good to see you all on here and fire away with your questions or comments.

Hi everyone. I haven't received the official form letter yet, but I'm guessing my SR's PIR will be 03/15 since she arrived at BC on the 16th. I'm hoping she didn't have a brain bubble and decided to send the letter to my ex at the last minute. The whole family told her to send it to me because I would make sure everyone received the "correct" information.

Maybe when I get home from work today I'll have a surprise in the mail...keeping
fingers crossed....

Hi- my son left on 1/16- I am not sure if this will be his PIR date- I haven't gotten the form letter yet either.  Looking forward to sharing this experience with other Moms.

Yes! Thankyou for starting the PIR group(s). I look forward to sharing info and hopefully meeting some of you at PIR. Although, I'm still guessing the date since the form ltr hasn't arrived to confirm it yet.
