Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

lala----beautiful blanket..love babies and baby things!!

diannep- thanks for  clarifying the going to the airport guidelines...I talked with my SR after BS and then he called back asking about the airport visits. Some of the recruits were talking about visits at the airport and had misinformation. He said let's call my Mom she'll know, she reads the messages on N4M...:)

REMINDER:  Ladies, I was reminded by a mom who had a sailor graduate yesterday that sometimes the sailors are told that families CANNOT go to the airports to meet them when they are flying out to A School---but as she found out,  this is NOT true, and she found airport personnel to be very "accommodating".  So, please know that this is NOT TRUE if your SR/sailor tells you this.  We have heard this off and on in the PIR groups over the years and checked it out to be certain.  Once, we thought it had to do with heightened security at the airports since there had been a terrorist threat a week or so earlier in our country.  But...not true.

So, if your sailor says that you cannot meet him/her there, please don't believe it.  I would also like to remind you that once the sailors leave RTC, they are "detached" from that Command so there is no authority from them anymore.  The airports welcome your sailors and their families, and yes, you should be able to get gate passes for your family members (as long as you don't have a huge number of them!).  Be sure to have ID to get these gate passes.  That way, you can actually wait at the gate until your sailor leaves!  I'm so very sorry that I missed this with my son....I was such a newbie back then, I had no clue, and neither did he.  Felt especially bad when he called that morning and said his flight had been delayed twice already...my older son and I were then in Wisconsin sightseeing and since our sailor was to be leaving in the next hour...we had no time to get there to see him off   :-( .

Just don't want anyone to miss extra special time with their sailors before they ship out to A School!

Beautiful, Lala!  You are so talented. LOVE the name.  I know a Navy mom in TX who has a grandSON named "Easton."  Needless to say, he is the "apple of her eye!"  I can see many trips in the future for you to VA!  :-)

Good Morning All!

I hope you don't mind but I just have to share what I have been working on all evening. Most of you know my Sailors are expecting a baby girl and they are home this weekend. We are having a baby shower tomorrow and I made a baby blanket with her name, Eastyn, on it. I can't share it on my page because then the surprised would be spoiled but on a private group she won't be able to see it lol. So I am sharing it with all my Navy Mom Friends :)
