OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh good they will not freeze on liberty weekend.....

I hope the days go fast too...hummmm hair color freshen up on Monday. I leave on Tuesday for a work conference then head to Chicago on Thursday...I'll be packing and shopping this weekend...mainly to keep busy...my other kids have no sports or events this weekend....may make a blanket for my granddaughter, picked up the cuties cuddle fleece(so soft) with safari print. She loves animals since we went to the zoo for her birthday.

I can't wait for the phone to ring with the "I'm a sailor" statement!!!

Oops...I meant 7 days....:)))))

Thursday is the end of my work week and the weekends go so fast. I realized today that it is only 5 more days until we hit the road headed north! Something tells me they are going to fly by! I'm so excited this morning I can hardly stand it!

Good question because they have coats at BC to wear for marching drills outside. Do they not get to keep them? Or at least for liberty weekend if moving onto a sunnier base??

OH....I came back onto the site...we just turned to 8 days!!!!

I have a question for the weekend they will be in there peanut butter's and was mentioned they might get cold to stop by the Navy exchange are they allowed to purchase a coat or something from there?

Good Morning!  Glad to see you back on here, FTLW!  We have missed you!  Hope you are on your way to good health again!
I want to remind you all that I have some BattleStations dates for you.  Can't post them here, but if you friend request me and put in the "add message" line that you want Battlestations info for Div ?, I will friend request you back with the info.  You do NOT need to ACCEPT my return friend request....just please read the info...and then you can hit IGNORE.  A crazy way for me to get info to you all, but it works!
