Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

simplyproud-I went to post pictures and my batteries are dead in my camera...I'm charging them now...as soon as I get them charged up...I'll post some for you since you weren't able to go to PIR....:))

What an absolutely long, but wonderful weekend it was.  I loved every minute of it.  Got home on Monday and of course caught the crud from my daughter.  Sharing is caring as they say.  I am glad it waited until I got home and didn't interfere with the time I had with my sailor!  Ditto to 'Jazzy's' post.  I don't think I would have made it without the support of this group.  Now it is off to A School.

Anyone have pictures they would like to post?

Thank you veteran moms and everyone else's insight for helping us make it through bootcamp and beyond! Your wisdom and knowledge was much appreciated!

Good Morn all..

Just got home last night....what a great long weekend. So proud of all the new sailors, loved meeting several of the families, enjoyed being in the city of St Paddy's day and mostly spending almost two whole days with my son...:)

Thank you to all the moms that stayed to supported N4M from the seasoned moms to all of our PIR moms that are now a little more seasoned and others that stayed around to share information..looking forward to the next step of this Navy journey....

My sailor told me last night he is on a 3 month hold in Pensacola before starting his training but sounds like he'll still have plenty of things to do while waiting for his training to start...hummm I think I see a beach visit in the future....

Best wishes to all the sailors and moms.:))

DSMELLEN:  Hope you can make it to her A School graduation!  Speedy and complete healing for her!

Ok, ladies, I'm leaving this group now...blessings to your sailors in their future!

Thank you BeachBunny & simplyproud ! Hopefully Erin will be healed and off to A school soon(probably 4-6 wks according to her Dr.). Still sad I won't get to watch her graduate though.

All of those new sailors deserved every bit of their standing ovation!  I hope there were some "little ones" there to see it....they must be in awe of so many sailors!

Comment by Lori24 on March 18, 2013 at 9:51pm
Diannep- my son and all of the other sailors did get a standing ovation and it made my heart swell with pride. It was a very humble moment!!
