Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

...your sick pup is adorable!  So hope all turns out ok.  I am a dog lover...have 3 myself...all rescues...two courtesy of my sailor son over the years.  Can't imagine my life without my babies....Take the 2 large ones (85 lbs but each almost 10 yrs old) on a fast 2 mile walk at 5:30 each morning...then another mile walk later at night, adding the "little girl" that my son brought home in Sept.  Can't imagine life without them!  My late hubby was a vet....gotta love a guy who loves and cares for animals!

Jazzy:  Yes, that is what happens...they do copy and paste info from here onto FB.  Some have said they are on FB because they find it is easier to get on then N4Moms is (not sure if from work, phone, etc).  Some get on there thinking that their "private" groups are safer...they are not safe, no more than they are here.  We remind everyone that as with any social media site, they are public sites and people can be "admitted" into a "private group" pretending to be someone they are not.  So we ask that all please be careful what they post on any of the social media sites, whether FB or N4Moms.  If you wouldn't post something on here, don't post it on there either.

There are a few N4Moms veterans on some of the FB groups..mainly to make sure that the info circulated there is correct.

Jazzy's Mom, 2013 is going to get so much better in 9days and 20 hours.  Just think you will have contact with your SR.  My hope and prayer is that this will get you thru this hard time for now, this is just leftovers from 2012, all will go away.   Stay strong and steadfast on your path.

Jazzy your puppy is adorable. I have had a few Sheppards. Abby is my part Sheppard/part husky, She is a senior herself at 12. Don't know what i would have done without her since my nest is now empty.

Can't believe it is only 9days. Haven't heard a peep in over two weeks.

Red Rover sorry to hear about your baby having cancer too. At this point we don't know if it has spread through out Atticus's body and from what our vet told us the life expectancy after surgery is about 12 months but that is if it didn't spread elsewhere. He is losing weight fast and is just not himself. All of this happened so quickly. A week ago he was a seemingly robust healthy dog to lethargic, not eating and most of all not wanting to go on his daily run with my husband and very messy loose stools. We never ever expected the vet to tell us they found something. Still trying to absorb it and think it would be best for Atticus and for my husband if they could do the surgery the day after we get home instead of someone having to care for him while we are gone. 2012 was a crappy year for me and now it looks like 2013 may be following close behind. ugh....

Good Morning all, I just finished my Bleacher Blankie, LOL.  Feeling like its getting closer every hour.

Jazzy's Mom we are so sorry to hear about your Doggy.  We also have a very sick dog and need to make that dreaded call, our dog does not have a curable type of Cancer but does seem to be having more pain lately.  We discussed this with our SR and he knows Solomon is bad.  We also have to find someone to take care of our dogs, we have 3 total.  So they do become part of your family.  Know that your family here is praying for you and yours.

lulu: thanks for the compliment...

Did you see the count down is in SINGLE digits! Finally!!! Yea!!!!!!!

Information on this site is invaluable...not all of us can be on FB...I'm a big fan of N4M...if you hear of some information on FB that us on N4M should know about ...kindly share with us too.....:))

Good morning all!  I also check both FB and N4M.  The information I get from both is quite encouraging.  I hope that all goes well for Major, Jazzy's Mom.  My thoughts and prayer for you and your family.

Jazzy's Mom - also meant to say that I'm sorry about your sick baby.  We lost our 14 year old Aussie this summer and he was a part of the family.  I know it can be difficult.

Comment by Christi/Zach's mom on March 5, 2013 at 11:30am

Jazzy's Mom - I think some of the moderators between both sites are the same.  I check both pages frequently and bounce between the 3/15 PIR and the Pensacola A School on both sites.  I figure as long as I am getting info, I feel better about the whole process.
