~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

What type of car do you recommend to rent? Is all-wheel drive needed? I have to drive back to the airport late on Thursday to pick up my husband (he'll be flying in from work)...worried about the ice on the roads. Do you think it's a problem in March? Any thoughts from anyone that's been there...:))

So does anyone know which is better fly into - Midway or O'hara?  Thanks

FTLW, I hope you are feeling better today.  ((hugs))

Ladies, I have rented cars from Priceline and it's a great idea to check out the link from Lala.  I have always had a really nice car and they have always accepted the rate that I put in that I wanted to pay for the rental.

Does anyone need to rent a car for PIR? I received this email for a great deal on car rentals so if anyone needs to rent a car for PIR maybe this will help you. I hope it works :) It is only good for a couple more days but you can rent through May.

I tried the link and even though the deal says it's for Enterprise, Enterprise wasn't even listed in the options. Although the fine print does say from 'participating neighborhood locations so that may be why.

I booked my hotel at Courtyard by Marriott.  Its only 5 miles from the base and they have a shuttle that takes your to the graduation.  It has an indoor pool and fitness room as well.  Has restaurant in the hotel as well.

Lala, congrats on your sailor's new orders.  Will she be in the same area as she is now?

CC45, the Residence Inn is also very nice, as well.  They have suites, breakfast in the morning, a shuttle to base and are also pet friendly.

I have heard good things about SpringHill Suites. If you are looking for something less expensive The Navy Lodge has great deals for $67 a night and if there are any still available you can get a kitchenette for the same price. And that is the total, no tax there at all. We stayed there and it was a very good experience. They do not have a shuttle to PIR so if you won't have a car you will have to get a taxi but Sarge is great for that.

Comment by Christi/Zach's mom on January 29, 2013 at 11:00am

I booked the Springhill Suites in Waukegan last night.  It was a little bit more than some of the other hotels, but we are going to be driving straight thru from Texas to get there and that indoor pool is going to be a welcome sight before going to bed. We also will have my mother with us.  The setup in the King bed/sofa bed room is ideal for a mixed family.

HELP!  I'm looking for hotels for PIR weekend.  Any suggestions?  I know there's posts on this site about that but I'm having a hard time finding them.  Thanks in advance!
