~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son from Ship11 Div 114 called today too. What a surprise to hear a message  from him. He said he was getting a cold but sounded good. Hope he gets to call back soon and  we get to talk with him.

to suez, my son is on ship 12 div119 and no letter yet.  Talked to his recruiter and he gave me an address but still waiting confirmation of PIR date for sure. Getting excited to be starting week 2 so its just getting closer everyday.  Stay strong.

Just joined this group, our son will also do PIR 3.15.2013.  Is anyone have someone in Ship 11 Div 114.  We got a call from him today.  It was great.  He seemed way homesick, and a bit down, but at the end of the phone he seemed much better.  Anybody else worried about their recruit ?

Just heard from son about 3 hours ago. He sounded great. He is also on ship 11 division 114. I asked him was it what he expected and he told me it was every thing he thought plus a lot more! It took us by surprise because I thought it would be Sunday when we heard from him. Still miss him lots but feel much better knowing he sounded upbeat about everything. He also said he had already made friends with several in his division.

Jazzy's mom, I am so glad he contacted you. Maybe you can get enough info to make a scrapbook or at least a couple pages for your own soon to be Sailors scrapbook :)

Diannep it is great to hear an update on Brett. I think about him and his young family often. It is great that he received that award for his bravery :) I was very touched when I read a while back that the Wounded Warriors project had helped his wife and new baby be able  to go and visit him for the first time after the birth of their baby. I was so inspired by it that I went to the Wounded Warrior website and signed up to make monthly donations. I am hoping to be able to put their link on my own website so I can encourage others to pay it forward and help them help our wounded military service members. It is a great thing that they are doing :)

daphelps, I know how you feel.  I miss Brent so much.  Was totally surprised when he called about hour ago.  Was great to hear his voice but now I miss him even more.  He was bummed that of all Saturdays his dad had to work today.  :-(

How old is your son?

lulu:  His age (just turned 34) and the phenomenal shape Brett was in is what saved his life, the drs said.  They said that 99 percent of those with this type of injury do not survive from the get go.  Brett is very grateful!

Jazzy'sMom:  Wow, so glad that you spoke with him!  That is wonderful!  This may be the "bond" that you will need to keep talking...and for him to talk to your future sailor too!

40 years in the Navy!  That is phenomenal!  So thankful for his service to our country!

I just hung up the phone from speaking with my father whom I haven't talked to in many years. I mentioned earlier he is retired Navy and I wanted to find out more about his military career so I could pass it on to my SR. In a nut shell he joined at 17 and worked in storage/supplies (don't remember exact rate) and worked his way up to Chief before retiring at age 57. He is sending me more information. It will be good to share it with his grandchildren.
