Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

It's just hard to be apart and it's hard not knowing how they are. But don't worry! Everyone told me "no news is good news," and they were right! When I finally did hear from my SR (in a letter), she was fine. Hang on! Just one more week!

A school is to be 17 weeks and C school is to be 8 weeks. He is to be in Pensacola for 25 weeks. Your rt we are lucky, we only have to get on I-10 in Houston headed east. A very easy drive.

Comment by ChambosMom on March 13, 2013 at 6:25pm: Momma Bear: My son is suppose to go to Pensacola for "A" and "C" school for Aviation Technical Support unless the plan has changed. I have not anything different. We are excited because it is only about 10 hours to drive it for us from Texas.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on March 13, 2013 at 6:15pm: If yuo do decide to drive check out the streets the day or evening before PIR so you know where you are going. When you see the cars lined up in that far right lane don't get in it. That lane ends closer to the base and everyone in it will have to merge to the left one lane. SO you can by-pass many of those cars by being in the correct lane to begin with :)

I tear up just thinking about seeing my girl, in dress uniform, marching in with her division. No point even wearing makeup on that day. This forum has been SO helpful over the past weeks of separation. My daughter is in Div 125 and is going to A School in Pensacola. I'd love to connect with other moms in her division, or others, and other moms with a sailor going to Pensacola. Aircrew is the plan but I haven't heard yet... I know there are three Meet and Greets. I was thinking of going to Sarge's...
