~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning and happy weekend everyone. Remember Monday is a holiday so letters this week will likely be delayed by a day.I hope you all have a great Saturday. Go out and do something fun :)

Taken 2/13/13 photos of Recruits @ Great Lakes

I scoured these pics looking for my SR...didn't find him but maybe someone else will spot theirs!

Probably not, beachlover.  Others have stayed there before.  There is also Residence Inn - Waukegan that has 2 bedroom suites (2 baths), full kitchen that is only 4-5 miles from RTC and close to Sarge's MeetandGreet.  It may be more pricey than Homewood Suites though.  We stayed at Residence when there for PIR and enjoyed it very much.  They use the PIR shuttle service too if you don't want to drive to PIR.

Does anyone know if Homewood Suites in Lincolnshire is too far away to stay for PIR?  I like the suite as my Dad will be with us too and it has separate bedrooms.  It says it is 12 miles and 22 minutes from the base.  Will this be a problem?

I think that is a great idea, vacanita.  I always took my phone in the bathroom with me, while my son was in BC, too.  I actually still do that since my son is currently deployed and I never know when I will hear from him.  It's a good plan to get used to doing that now.  I have also even received phone calls at 3:00a.m. since he's been deployed because he forgot about the 12 hours time difference, lol.  My cell goes absolutely everywhere with me, including sitting on my nightstand every night.    :)

Betsy:

Thanks, I was so relieved.  I really might have to consider diannep's advice and carry my phone everywhere including the shower with a ziplock. hehehehe.
