Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a call from my SR today.  It was for information for his security clearance.  We even got in a bit of chit chat.  He said at the end that they will be able to call Saturday.  Just a heads up.  I know the phone won't leave my side.

Victoria, I was giving the same address and when I double checked it with the sites list of address it was the same on sailor so I waited for the letter before I sent off 12 letters I had stacking up! Would have been upset if he didn't get them.

Victoria:  Most likely they will redirect it to his ship/division number so no worries.  The name, ship/division numbers are the very important parts.

Finally got "the letter" yesterday. My son managed to write "I love you. I'm Ok!" on the first page. Not much, but it made me feel so much better. Glad to have confirmation that my letters have gone to the right place, too!

I was given the wrong address for my SR son. The street name I was given sent it to 3515 Sailor Dr. It was suppose to be 3600 Ohio ST. I had the right Ship number and right division number, will he still get the letters I sent him? Concerned Mom.
