~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Here is the link for the Recruit Training Command webpage.  It is handy to have, as there is a lot of great information on it and you will also need it to print your out parking pass later on.   http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/

emilysmom, I would definitely wait to see what they post on the Recruit Training Command website about the amount of guests permitted for this PIR.   We do not consider it a confirmed total until we can verify it.  The amount of guests permitted is actually determined by the total number of divisions that are graduating that week.  We do not have a final count on that number on this group just quite yet, but should have it very soon.  I would hold off on the invitations until that number is firm.  You don't want to have to "un" invite someone later on.

Hi everyone, I am Lala, another veteran mom. i have been helping out on this site since July of 2010. I have two Sailors, my daughter (PIR 7/10) and son-in-law (PIR 10/10) They met in DEP, married while she was in A-school, 4 days before he left for boot camp and now two years later they are expecting their first baby and my first grand baby :) Super excited. They are based in VA Beach and are doing well with Navy Life.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all. We all know and understand what you are going through because we have been there. I had a hard time with my daughter being gone because I had no time to prepare. She mentioned joining one day and a month later she was gone. I cried almost daily and stalked the mail man all day long lol. My daughter was in the performing division and sang with the choir. Please feel free to send me a friend request if you have any questions at all, I am more than happy to help in any way I can :)

My son left on Jan 23rd and we are guessing he will graduate on 3-22.  We received his box on Jan 29th but have not received any form letters or graduation info. Waiting impatiently!
