~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

correachica:  Welcome!  Someone posted on one of the PIR groups that Navy Lodge had remodeled.  You can call them to confirm that.

Sam:  No, unfortunately they do not send out the picture pkg info to the families, it is only given to the SRs.  You may be able to call the Photo Lab and ask what the packages are, and then write your SR with the one you want him/her to order.  Here is their phone number:

Stephany:  So you received the graduation form letter?  His ship #/ / div # should have been listed in that.  He writes it in.  He would have written in the address you can write to also.

Comment by Valerie on February 2, 2013 at 12:16am
@ Stephany-It's the second line of the address. It should say ship ??? DIV ???

How do we know which ship and division they are in? We received my brothers box on Tuesday and the graduation instructions on Wednesday. He also graduates on March 22; which is what brings me here.

It's official my son has PIR 3/22/13.  Just got the letter today.  He even wrote a special I love you message on his letter. I can't wait to see him again. He is in ship 11 Division 126. Has Navy Lodge remodeled their place? I might try booking there. Also should I book until Sat. or Sun.?

My son flew out on Jan 24. I received his box on the 29th but still no letter. Patience is not my virtue. Curious as to what happened to his cell phone. He sent the charger back??? As an emptynester now, I am looking forward to meeting others in the same boat.

By the way, ladies, PKG A of the pictures includes the yearbook-- THE KEEL-- for free if your SR orders it.  The pkg is $140, I think...pricey, but complete.  That is the only way to get THE KEEL for free.  So you may want to write to your SR and ask that he/she order PKG A with THE KEEL in it.

Also, ask that they order the PIR DVD which is a wonderful keepsake.  Also nice for those who can't go to PIR to see.  It is mailed to you a few weeks after PIR.  I believe it is $29.

If they forget, you can order both after PIR.  But you will have to pay for THE KEEL then, I think.

cameronleigh:  Some of them pay for them there with a credit card/debit card.  If they do that, they can keep the pictures and give them to you after PIR...or...choose to mail them home to you.  Some wait for families to get there and have them pay for them at the NEX after PIR--they pick up the pictures then.  My son had an "emergency only" credit card on my account that he used to pay for his when there.
