Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Most of my friends here know I have been having computer issues, especially with this site for a long time. No matter what I did it continued to get worse. Yesterday I couldn't log on at all FOREVER lol. It took 2 hours just to get to the internet and another hour to get facebook to open. I thought for sure I was going to have to but a new computer. A friend from facebook helped me by sending a link to cleansweep my computer and I am shocked at how well it works now. I crossed my fingers and turned the computer on and within seconds I was on this page WHOOOO HOOOOO, you don't realize how much you would miss it until you can log on. I am definitely happy with the results and it was FREE!!! So, Good afternoon Navy Family :)

diannep - i called - they were very helpful. thank you so much!! I'll look into those coins, very neat!

Craig's article is so nice to have, I've shared the day-to-day page with him mom and sister, it's nice to be able to write and ask about how his weeks are going with specific questions! I'm so anxious to hear back!

By the way, Blythe, the link you provided below...navydep....is accurate.  That site is run by one of our N4Moms veterans (like me!)....Craig.  Craig is a retired sailor himself, with family members in.  He also is the go-to man for the challenge coins, if any of you want to purchase the ship one (their barracks name) to give to your sailor after PIR.  So the info is correct on his site!

Here is the challenge coin website (Ebay) if any are interested.  You will need your SR's Bootcamp ship name to order.

Blythe:  So you are listed on his Navy Fed account?  If so, you should be able to get info on the online account, how to log in, etc.  I would just call Navy Fed and see how to go from there:

888 842 6328

If they can't give you any info, you will have to wait until you can talk to your SR, or write a letter to your SR for info.
