For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The tickets cost $329 a person plus $20 for insurance and they charged $125 cancel fee plus $33 cust sev fee whatever that means and ins. I get credit to use in the next $60 days. I didn't cancel yet, will wait to do it tomorrow morning, still hoping Diane. Thanks for the kind words. If he is gonna PIR I will be there one way or another lol

Does anyone KNOW anyplace very close where a 14 year old brother who didn't fit on the guest list can stay till we get out for a few hours? Then they can see each other for dinner.

Comment by diannep on March 27, 2013 at 2:21pm: Rows girl. Didn't he get to try again today or tomorrow??? They usually get to try every 48 hours. If he completes it by tomorrow, he would do BattleStations tomorrow night and be at PIR on Friday. They usually get to try M W F, so surprised he went yesterday, but he should be trying again. I know you probably couldn't wait on cancelling since you would have been flying out today or tomorrow.....if he passes, be sure to go to your division group above and see if any of those kind ladies can give him a hug and snap some piks of him for you if he is at PIR.

So sorry about this....and about how much it cost you...oh no. Do they not have a policy like Southwest where you can use the tickets up to a year? So sorry.

Please post if you hear from your SR. If he doesn't pass this week, he will stay in FIT and keeps getting chances as long as he is progressing. Once he passes, he does BattleStations and heads straight to A School, no PIR. So sorry....still hoping that he will be there this week, even if you all won't be....prayers for him and you all too!
