Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Navy Lodge, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn

There are many more in the area that are ok, but these seem to be the ones we hear the most about. Navy Lodge is only about a mile from RTC--very reasonably priced, you get a pass to a small NEX to shop in without your sailor if you want. Theother hotels are close together and 4-5 miles from RTC (but close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR).

I need to start planning-where to stay? which place is close and decent? i think i will have to fly as i live in new york. not really saving if i have to rent a car which i would. His twin brother is at college i have 2other boys also which will come and my husband. I feel bad for his gf. only 4 allowed. she can come tho and still see him i guess....im rambling-sorry :-0) thx my name is Andrea btw

My son, ship2 Div 92 left 1/30, I got the box the next Monday, I think I scared the FedEx guy because as I was signing, I said to him, "My kid's in that box!" Lucky I didn't have the cops here I guess! I have already mailed 2 envelopes and a macho Valentines' card.

This has been a very long first week without him. Please contact me if you have a son/daughter on the same ship/div.
