~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hooray for warmer weather! I'm still going to be freezing. I'm such a wimp in the cold. It's just now starting to warm up here. I want a trophy for every winter I make it through. ha.
Thanks, MartiB_TX, you too!
hooray it's 41 degrees today in Chicago. Was so afraid it would still be freezing.
Pobs hope to meet you and all the other Moms I've been talking to in Chicago. Everyone have a good & safe trip and enjoy visiting with your new Sailor.
I'm staying at the Navy Lodge. Does anyone know if the Navy lodge has blow dryers and irons in their rooms?
My kids are staying home with my parents. Too bad, they could have played with your grandkids!
Well there you go - thanks Lala RIbbon Queen, I knew some of the details but you filled in the blanks.
Pobs where are you staying? I am at the Days Inn. I get into Chicago at 8:30 a.m. with my S-I-L and 2 grandkids. Hubby couldn't make it because he had to work on a special project at his job on Easter weekend. His company has great timing.
Thank you, Lala! Do you know what time this happens? I hope his RDC's let them use the phone!!!
I have no idea, MartiB_TX. I bet it is though. He wasn't sure what it was. We were just hopeful for another call. Boo if we don't get one. But at least I get to see him in 2 days!
I'm going to be pacing the floor tomorrow while I'm so close to him, but unable to see or talk to him all day long. ha. I'm getting to Chicago at 12:30pm. I don't know what I'm going to do with all that time. I booked the first flight out because I just wanted to get there.
It is sometime called Ricky Heaven and sometimes Recruit Heaven. It is basically a section of the NEX that has been off limits until now, Where they can get junk food, sugary snacks and drinks, pay for computer time so watch for them on facebook and they can also use phones. What exactly they can do depends on their RDC :) I have heard that the gift cards for some of those locations are no longer accepted there. But they do have a debit card that was issued to them when they arrived at boot camp that they can use.
I would like to wish a very special Happy Birthday to our very own Betsy, son on Stennis carrier, we love and appreciate all you do here and on Facebook to help other families through the boot camp experience. I hope you birthday is very special and filled with much love, kindness, rest and relaxation. And, of course something fun and yummy ♥ We love you Betsy ♥
Pobs - isn't recruit heaven when they get to go to Ricky's Heaven (I think that is the name it is called) and they get to eat pizza, subway, taco bell or other fast food stuff. I gave my daughter a gift card for Pizza Hut (whichever one is there) before she left for boot camp and she put it in her wallet. I remember there were about 4 places to choose from and that is what she wanted a gift card for.
