OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I wish that there was someone we could call to see how SR in FIT are progressing.  You would think it would help motivate them to know that family is involved.  Sheesh!

Comment by diannep on March 26, 2013 at 1:20pm

Pobs:  If they don't pass, they don't call but will repeat BattleStations and pass.  But remember, those who have "watch" won't call either - until later today or in the next couple of days.

Friends,

"I in them and You in Me.

May they be brought to complete unity

to let the world know that You sent Me

and have loved them even as You have loved Me."

i have been shaky for weeks. :-( and i still have another night to get through.

I cannot stop staring at my phone even though the call probably won't come this early!! I'm so anxious. I was up all throughout the night praying. If the SRs don't pass battle stations the first time do you get a call or do you have to wait until they do pass?

Comment by diannep on March 26, 2013 at 10:30am

I'm a Sailor calls expected from 920 today!  HOOYAH!  Phones handy this afternoon.  Calls could start as early as 2 pm Central time.

Good Morning!
