OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks, I am glad you guys like the ideas. I am pretty good with ideas for kid projects :) I have a K-6 teaching degree but there are no jobs here and when one comes up it goes to someone with years of experience. So I am a substitute teacher and also have my own business :) You know I thought of something else for the paper chain. When each strip is removed it could be used to write a note on and for  the recruit and sent with each daily letter :)

Good morning everyone. This is what we woke up to this morning here in NC. Date night with my hubby tonight to go see Little Big Town in Concert might get a bit tricky later on today. Compared to most places this is not much snow at all but on curvy mountain roads it can be a huge problem.

You ladies have such great ideas. Love the paperclip chain idea Lala. I have a grandson that is missing mommy but since he is so young he may not quite understand that concept. Might be nice to try though.

Tacosmom have a great time. Sounds like you've worked hard to make sure your son doesn't miss out on mailcall. Our dog sent a letter too so i think quite a few pets have gotten in on the letter writing.

I'll be cruising for the next 7 days, so I won't be able to send mail to my son.  Of course I couldn't let that happen, so we prepared letters for him in advance that my good friend will mail out each day while we're away.  1 letter is from our Beagle, Abby.  1 letter is from our Carolina Dog, Ranger.  1 letter is some Sudoku print outs and a newspaper clipping about the Tampa Bay Lightning.  1 letter is one of the questionnaires. There is also a card that a bunch of his old co-workers signed and another card from all of his old JROTC classmates.  My oldest daughter rolled her eyes at me when I told her we wrote letters from the dogs, but they are really hysterical.  My husband did one and I did one.  We both cracked up when we read each others.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great week and get lots of letters and more calls.  By the time on here again we will only have 3 to go!!

And a phone call today!!! (DIV 131) My poor baby sounded so tired! And she has a sinus infection. But she is absolutely loving basic! Lala ribbon queen, what a wonderful idea!! My SR also has two little brothers at home, ages 4 and 2. Try have no idea what this Navy thing is or where it is, but they want sissy to come home. Now. Lol, this might help them "get" it! Thank you so much!

I got a surprise call from my SR today!  It scared me at first being a Friday, but he was "ok I guess"  seems he was told he could changes jobs even at bootcamp, but thatwa s wrong informantion.  He did say that his division 131 has won a flag for scholastics. They had gotten up at 4 for PT.  He also said the food wasn't hot enough for him said it was luke warm at best.

That is awesome Daphne :) It sounds like you have a couple of great daughters :)

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Try to find something fun to do and stay busy. If you have little ones at home there are several things you can do to make this journey a little easier for the, Make a paper chain with a link for each day they have left in boot camp and let them remove one link each day. It will help them see that this is only temporary. Other have also put a quarter in a jar for every day left and each week allowed the child/children to use the money for an ice-cream cone or even for a special card to send to their recruit, gumballs or gummy bears in a jar work well too and they get a tiny little treat each day. So many things can make it a better experience for them :) Have a wonderful weekend :)

Daphne, awww, how sweet of her to do that for her sister!

We got another letter, too! My SR has a sister that just turned 16 last week. All the girls in 131 signed the card. Her sister was so happy and proud that she took it to school today. Sometimes these kids reduce me to tears and make me proud of them all at the same time... Can't wait to meet you all! 27 days!!!
