~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The only thing that would stop the scalpers is for everyone to boycott the scalper tickets and not go to the concert. Bet the concert people would do something about it and the scalpers would be stuck with all those tickets. I know that isn't going to happen but... just sayin' I don't think the people who put on concerts really care or even know who buys the tickets and as long as they sell the tickets and have a full house why should they do anything???
So happy for all of you who got your letters. My daughter is not one to write, in fact, her responses on text messages use the least number of words she can possibly get by with so it was really nice to see her write an actual letter with whole sentences.
Lady Hamilton, ha ha that's almost funny (kind of sounds like the t-shirts that said "my parents went to New Orleans and all I got was this t-shirt) although she probably thought that was a pretty special present - they work so hard to get those. Mine will have her 24th b'day next week but won't get her new hat for another 3 weeks. Your daughter is a very attractive young lady.
I live in NJ and ticket scalping is a huge problem. When Springsteen performs here, and tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster, they are "sold out" within minutes and then you are redirected to StubHub, where the tickets are there for inflated prices. It's awful for anyone who wants to see a performer, personally I will not pay scalpers. I see Bruce a LOT and have since 1978, but have never paid scalper prices. Keep looking, join a fan board, or worst case scenario, what I do is go to the venue the day of the show, there's always someone trying to sell tickets at face value. My hubby loves Jimmy Buffet and his ring tone on my phone is Margaritaville :)
My SR (ship 03 div 133) is having a birthday today! He turns 19 in boot camp. I don't suppose they'd bake him any cupcakes, will they?
Hi Daphne,
The NAVY Lodge seems to be a good place to stay. No deposite, no taxes, no extra fees. Just a flat rate of $66.00 :-D
I have heard of that too Diannpe and I just think it is all wrong. If they would start punishing people for selling tickets at higher than face value it would all stop and people like us could afford to go to a concert for someone like Jimmy Buffet. I refuse to pay more than face value other than the convenience fee for buying online.
Taco, we love the Zac brown band and plan to go see them next time they come somewhere close to us. We are going to see Little Big Town next weekend and are very excited about that :)
Good morning everyone and happy Saturday :)
Congrats on the letters!
Melissa, had to laugh at your post about receiving an unexpected letter! My son stated that he would not write....didn't like writing...but would call when he could. Well, while he was in bootcamp, I received about 5 two-page letters from him...and when he would call, he would ask me to please keep those letters coming! He reminded me that the letters/calls were their only connection to the "outside world." True! They are really shielded from what is going on in the country/world. They want the SRs totally focused on their training.
Lala: I totally agree. Number of tickets purchased should be limited, but I guess it would be unfair to those with larger groups. Scalping is even into athletic shoes and Iphones, etc now. Hence the very long lines around the stores when "something" is first coming out. Immediately-- you will see the merchandise on Ebay, etc for a much inflated price. Amazing to me that people are so desperate for these "things" that they pay that price! Easy way for the "instigators" to make money...other than their lining up time. I understand that some people even hire "line babysitters" whom they pay when they don't want to stand there the whole time. Wow....
Good Morning All!
