N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Cybermom:  Find the group above called "Carpooling to GL from the airports" and be sure to read the posts and post on it.  You all should be able to find each other that way.

CourtRenee:  I'm not familiar with that.  Are you on the "wives" groups on this site?  If so, I would ask on there.

@Syntia, I will be traveling with just my 15 year old daughter, hubby can't go, and I'm not renting a car.  Shall we carpool taxis?  We're staying at the Residence Inn in Waukegan, and haven't made plane reservations yet, but will most likely fly into O'Hare early on Thursday.  If you're interested, let me know, I guess message me and we can exchange phone#s etc.

I know, right?  Seeing that envelope was the best!  I dealt with all the other mail and saved the best for last LOL.  Have read the letter about a dozen times, laughed and cried, tried to read "between the lines" as it were.  He did mention not liking the cold, I mean, we're in NJ so it gets cold here, I can only imagine it's brutal there.  No fancy Northface jackets for him haha!

Got my first letter today! Never thought I could be this happy over a letter.

CourtRenee, my daughter is ship 14 div 131.  She had watch part of her weekend (or Sunday) so her letter was very short as she was crunched for time.  Monday was a holiday for the post office so today would be about the soonest most of us could expect to get a letter.  My mail gets put in my box every morning before 8:30 a.m. so I know it came today and not yesterday.  She told me she loved the letters we were sending.  I have recruited others in the family to write to her so she has plenty of mail.  She said that time went so slow during P days and Medical days but things are picking up now and she is starting to count the days down until graduation. Today they are week 2 day 4 for her div. but not sure that is the case for all of the divisions that will graduate on 3/29 because she said they were a push division since they had to wait for their division to get filled up.

Thanks SO much DianneP for being so informative! I appreciate it! I don't know what I would do without this site, literally.

Another question I have it, after bootcamp & A school, my hubby is going to Panama City for Diver school, I believe it is for 6 months.
Are we, ( wife & kids) allowed to move with him there?
I know it is still school, but I didn't know if we would be allowed to move? 6 months is a long time...

Yes it is, CourtRenee!

GOOD DAY fellow Navy FRIENDS!! :)
It is a GOOD FRIDAY!! already :) just reading that some of you all got letters, woo hoo that is SO awesome, maybe I will get one today, I am praying!

lavendrgrl8- I had a moment last night too, all I could think to do was write, it ended up being a 4 page letter! & I had so much more I could've said, lol!!

MartiB- what ship/division is your son? I am WANTING a letter!!

DianneP- he is staying at great lakes for A school. So it is safe to bring him some of his favorite clothes/shoes just for when he does get phased up?

Hello Mavis, yes you are right there is a taxi service to M&G it is $10.00, however I was hoping to shuttle together with some people instead of going alone. My husband will not be able to make it to PIR, son's dog is staying with us and he is worried about too many changes affecting her. I am still trying to not think too much about it. No luck so far
