~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello Daphne, I am using AMTRAK, it seems it is about a day's trip for $230.00 round trip :)
CourtRenee - I will also have my young grandson with me so was glad to see your concerns posted. His mom is graduating and she is insisting on having him there. Good suggestion Husky mom about sitting on the end of the lower seats so it is easier to take the little ones behind the bleachers. Are you flying in? What are you doing about a car seat?
GM! Dianne
Good Morning All!
lavendergrl: Hope another call comes for you soon!
HuskyMom: With this PIR date, the training week/day count he gave seems right!
CourtRenee: Hmmm....hard call. I will say that there are many young children/babies at PIR. You can sit on the end of the bleachers (maybe first or second row) where you can get out easily and take them behind the bleacher area if it gets too long for them. I think I would ask your husband what he thinks about it? He may be dying to see them and not want to wait until later! Or he may suggest that you meet up later with your mom and the babies...Just know that there are plenty of "young ones" at PIR! Its great that your mom will be with you since she could take them behind the bleacher area so you won't miss PIR if you decide to bring them.
The good news is that this is a small PIR group. So, you won't have to arrive quite so early to get good seats. Many just let their little ones play out on the PIR floor prior to PIR starting so that they are more comfortable sitting still once PIR starts.
missed my sons call :-( he got my husband and girlfriend tho. i feel frusturated. he did leave me a voicemail tho , so at least i heard his voice. he said he can call again in like 2 weeks..i cant wait to to talk to him then. i will not miss this one! can't wait to see him. Hope to receive letters soon.
OK I need some ADVICE! kind of a big deal... I have 2 little ones that are coming to Great Lakes with me, obviously. but... my mom is as well. I am debating on whether I should bring them into the graduation, or have her meet us when it's over.!?!! They are so young, it will be a disaster if I try to control them in there for that long, but then again, I know it's their dad & it's important to him... hm... he will understand if they stay in the room, he knows exactly how they are at this age, lol.
My son got a phone call too (ship 03 div 133). He sounded well and strong. So proud of himself and learning so much about himself too! A phone call relieves a lot of feelings and that's the best thing.
That is awesome that you got to talk to him Melissa, I hope he will be feeling better soon and I bet those letters will help for sure :)
