N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

hi everyone :)  Time is going fast thankfully!  Love knowing each day we are a little closer.  Does anyone know if there are a good number of restaurants in the area and is it better to make a reservation for dinner on Friday night somewhere.  I would hate to waste time running around if places are going to be crazy busy.  Want to get as much time in with our girl as possible.  Thanks and have a great day!

I'll correct myself and say that yes they do get paid at the pay grade they entered at. I believe the retroactive pay refers to those that enter as E-1's and "rank up" during BC.

Also, to clarify on uniform deductions. The Recruits get a clothing allowance. It shows up in the LES and it shows being taken out (at some point). So they do not really pay for the uniforms in a sense.

Boot camp E-1 pay is $1,430.40 per month. This will be divided into two payments, one on the 1st and the other on the 15th.

In boot the first pay is going to be significantly low because of uniform, necessities and ditty bag deductions.

I believe that they are paid at the E-1 pay grade during BC and then upon becoming a sailor they will be retroactively paid for E-3. I hear different schools of thought on that though. That they get E-2 or E-3 pay if they entered BC at that pay grade.

My SR's pay was just deposited into our navy fed account. About how much is usually deducted at first? He's supposed to be E3 but are they paid as E1 in basic? I'm just wondering what "normal" pay should be. We're not married yet so no BAH

Hi everyone, I hope you all are not in the path of this winter storm. Here in NC it is snowing a lot and we are expecting a foot of snow tonight. Crazy for us to get this much snow.

Yes, they are, jeffm.  You can either give them their phones at the airports or after they have Liberty with you if staying in GL for A School and return to the base.

Comment by jeffm on February 25, 2015 at 4:58pm

Are they allowed to get their cellphones back after basic and when they go to A school?

Thank you Ellen0502 :)

Tessal, If your Sailor is staying in GL for A School you will have part of Friday with them (they must first check in at A School), and you will gave Sat and Sun with them from approx 6am to 9pm.

If your Sailor is flying out for A School they will most likely fly out on Sat. You will have Friday after PIR with them, and you can go to the airport and wait at the gate until they board their flight. If you can stay until late Sat evening, or leave Sunday that would be the best for those leaving GL for A School.
