Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Comment by diannep on April 2, 2013 at 9:37pm: BlakesMom: You go to the airport and meet up with your sailor, who goes with you to the airlines counter to get your gate pass. Be sure to have ID for all in your group who need a pass. You then can wait at the gate until the plane departs.

Congrats to the new sailors of 921/139/140!

I am west coast so I am still at work but he called my cell phone and I was able to talk to him for about 30 seconds. He sounded so good kind of tired, I am so proud of him!!!!

Comment by BlakesMom on April 2, 2013 at 6:37pm: How do you get a Family Gate Pass to be able to see your Sailor at the Airport. My SR will be going to Midway and be there at 7:00 am Saturday morning. Then his flight leaves around 1:45 - 2:00 pm. We plan to see him off when he leaves for Florida. Does anyone know how it works?

Comment by proudmom63 on April 2, 2013 at 6:02pm: Whoo Hoo!!! congrats to US ALL! and our SAILORS! so excited son doesn't leave for A school in charleston til sunday am....liberty on sat and will need to stand watch but that's ok.... gives us more time AND do not have to hang out all day at the airport... so excited, mind is running a million miles a minute!!!

Can't wait for Sarge's and PIR but mostly....TO GIVE MY SON A HUG!!!!

I can't wait to give my son a ginormous hug!! I can hardly contain my excitement and ready to jump on that plane!! Looking forward to seeing many of the most proud mom's in the world at Sarges & PIR:) Go NAVY!!
