OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank You for your response diannep, not that I can do anything about it, the choice will be his, but you know how us mothers want the best for children! :-)

Undesignated.  He will have a chance to meet with a classifier during bootcamp re: jobs available.  It is possible he may be able to get another one---jobs are very overmanned these days, but you never know.  Otherwise, yes....Undesignated will stay in GL for a month of school, get Leave, and then be sent on a ship.  They do some "grunt" jobs but also are able to look around and see what jobs they may really like.  Not sure of the timing on this, but if that job is "undermanned," and they get accepted into it, they would eventually go to school for that job.

Good Morning all, I have an issue that has been weighing on my heart, hoping someone can give me some clarification.  When my son signed up, he didn't put a specific skill down, cannot remember what they call it, "unidentified" maybe??  I spoke to a gentleman at work whose son is in the Navy and he told me' that was NOT a good idea at all, once he is done with his 1 month training, they will ship him off on a ship and he will get the grunt jobs, and will not enjoy it.....tell your son to pick something fast...'is that true, is there anyway he could enlist in a specific skill while he is in BC or is it too late?

I really like the countdown clock. I mentally count Fridays ;-)   but it is nice to see the clock numbers constantly get smaller. It looks like our Sailor Recruits will be in the snow a little today. So glad they train indoors. I am surprised there are not more members for this PIR page. So grateful for the ones that are here.

I see it is snowing in Great Lakes this morning :) We woke up to a blanket of white this morning here in the mountains of NC. Now it is almost all gone and raining. But hubby's work closed for the day so he is very happy lol.

FTLW, I need to figure out how to use that block caller for my iPhone :)

Most smart phones have a "Blocked callers" feature nowadays as well...that's where all of those unwanted numbers go for me!
I Google them first to make sure its an unwanted number and if so then I block it.
