Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

It does really show that they are coming around and 'in the homestretch' so to speak. I think they got pics taken this week to. Now if mime just rememberedto order the package and DVD!

Comment by gksailormom on March 14, 2013 at 10:53pm: Gotta love Thursday's and the Countdown clock!!!! ONLY 21 DAYS!!!! Thursday's are our day the mail gets here! Got 3 letters today. I am seeing his sense of humor come back to life in his letters. That puts a smile on my face :) It sounds like he is geeling beter and least I hear it in his words. He wants to go have a REAL Chicago pizza where he can sit down, enjoy a meal, and talk (longer than 10 minutes) over graduation weekend! Can't wait until that next phone call! Miss him tons! Hope everyone is getting letters this week!

Not only am I excited to see my SR, I am getting excited to meet many of the wonderful moms that are on here. It will be funny, we won't recognize each other my our "real" names, we will have to be sure we put our Navy4Moms names on name tags. LOL

This just means God has a different plan for her which will be better and greater than she can imagine! Please remember to have hope and faith that every adversity we encounter in life is a lesson somewhere and the His plan is bigger than she can imagine! Thank you for sharing a little part of you and your daughter with us! You will be in our thoughts! Give her HUGE HUGS!!!

The Lord knows where her next journey is....just like he knows for my son who just lost his job last week! Hard for us moms, but hoping that we can turn it over to Him! I know you can't wait to hug her and vice versa! Blessings!
