Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Sandra (MA Mom) on March 12, 2013 at 12:19am: Citrine....so glad you got a call. I wonder if our boys were on watch together the previous weekend...that's why my SR didn't call. Wishing our boys the best of luck for their testing this week.

Comment by Citrine-Ship13Div140 on March 12, 2013 at 12:11am: I finally heard from my son Sat night and he was doing do much better and feeling positive. Ladies, he said only a handful of SRs were allowed to make calls, and those were men who missed calling the week before. What a welcome change in him. "Hell" week is this week. All he said about it was that it means getting up at 4:00 am and not finishing until 10:00 pm! He said there is some testing involved as well. He also said there may not be any more calls until grad week! I'm getting more paper and my pen out. Prayers to all of us newbies in the Navy.

Hard way to start the week but I'm holding on for Wed. mail as I've been fortunate to get letters midweek. My SR keeps writing "remember to stay positive Mom" so I'm going to do just that. Only 25 days left.....we've come SO FAR!!! :)

Off to write to him!!
