~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".
The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

I was afraid I was writing my son too much, like every other day. In his first letter he said he would love it if I wrote every day, said it is the bright spot of his day. Needless to say I am writing every day now, and have some of his friends and family write too.
Love seeing others writing letters to the SRs! I know they love it!
Good Morning All!
SoCal Ohana (S14/D141)..... I'm not even sure how may letters I have sent out. I sent pictures. Update from her facebook friends, etc. My mom and other family members are sending out letters daily, trying to keep the mail going. There is also some friends of my parents who write recruits, and they have been writing to my daughter also, one of the people is a retired Navy Seals. I think it is really cool what they do. Well off to work for me, hoping for a letter today.
No letter yet from my daughter- hopefully this week :) Was so happy to hear from her on Saturday. Sending my 21st letter today. Normally just a little writing from me, her dad, brother and sister each individually, then a joke of the day, bible verse of the day, inspirational picture of the day, family picture of the day, funny picture of the day, stuff like that :)
Looking forward to Sarge's meet and greet - we are staying at the Navy Lodge
Ahhhh....thanks so much, 1Proudmom! We N4Moms veterans love helping you all!
Well no letter today, hoping for one tomorrow. At least I got that phone call on Saturday.
Hello Christina(ship11div135), Welcome.
I confirmed Sarge's Meet and Greet, looking forward to meeting all you wonderful mothers and families.
This see-saw is making me dizzy!! :)
The first letters and phone calls can be quite painful. They have lots of adjustments to make....each division averages around 88 SRs, all different ages, backgrounds, life experiences, goals....so don't be alarmed if your SR is a bit down or negative (easy to say, I know...not so easy to do). It takes a while for the RDCs to get them all "on the same page." but they do a great job of it. Just know that by training week 4 (usually around bootcamp week 5), things get better for them. There are average 8 bootcamp weeks, but only 6 training weeks.
So hang in there, ladies. We have found from our experience on this site that some of the SRs will act like all is good so as not to worry family members...because believe me, bootcamp is not supposed to be fun! But it does get better! :-)
