for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

krissi: There is no way that the recruiter knows when they are flying out this early. He probably meant that at times they DO fly out on Sunday....your SR will not know for sure until right before PIR. You did a good thing by staying until Sunday,...just in case!
Jennie: The problems with Navy Lodge were not from the hotel itself, they were from the A School Command that ordered the sailors to stay away. But we hope that all is ok now.
Glad everyone's plans are falling into place!!
Greetings!
"He will not let your foot slip--
He who watches over you will not slumber."
Psalm 121:3
Hi everyone, I am from Texas and my son is on ship 13 division 137.
I called Navy Lodge when I got home from work today-it is ok for recruits to visit with family-just no over nights which is not allowed at all anyway-had some other questions too which I got answers to.
I am electing to have Sarge taxi service drive the airport run as I am not comfortable driving in unfamiliar areas (it is PTSD thing) and I am unable to bring my service dog with me -and all tolls and stuff are included so I am going to sit back and enjoy the 90 minute ride from midway :) this way I can see some stuff as I have never been to Chicago :)
TJ Proudnukemom: Thank you - my husband and I gave it to God and while we are saddened by this turn in her battle with the liver cancer, it's His will that will be done-I don't want her to suffer needlessly for any more than what she has to.
I am truly grateful for all the support I found here-am looking forward to meeting every one for PIR :)
TJ Proudnukemom: I was told that there is no longer a problem for those with sailors staying in GL for A School visiting families at Navy Lodge or Gateway, but only during PIR weekend. So....if the proves to NOT be true, the families can change hotels when up there. Hopefully it is true though~
Paige: I'm not aware of any timeshares, but here are the hotels that others on this site have recommended over the years:
Navy Lodge, Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express. All but Navy Lodge offer a Navy Grad discount, but you need to call them directly to ask for it. If you book at Navy Lodge, be sure to book in your SR's name unless you have your own military ID. Mention graduation to them.
For those who already booked at Navy Lodge but didn't do this, I understand that when you check in, they will rectify it.
Jennie, so sorry to hear about your DIL. You and your family will be in my prayers.
I noticed you mentioned that your SR is staying in GL for A school and that you booked a room at the Navy Lodge. I've seen many warnings on this site for families of GL A schoolers NOT to stay at Navy Lodge as the SR's may not be allowed to go there. Sorry if I'm repeating what someone has already pointed out. You don't need more to deal with right now.

I booked flights last night for me, my husband and my MIL!
