N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

GarysmomShip06Div153, I'm just plain anxious & thankful for this site, a lot of information on here. The main thing to not forget is proof of Insurance, registration, gate passes if driving & parking on base, and make sure everyone has proper ID. I'm sure there's more to it than that & thanks for your question. I'll be checking out the answers. :-)

Never mind that question about the Navy Lodge & gate pass. More thinking aloud on my part. I understand how it works. :-)

Good morning! Each day that passes, the more anxious I get. I'm going to be a basket case by next Friday. Lol.
Those staying at Navy Lodge, is that actually on base, like inside the RTC gate? I'm not really understanding the "gate pass".

ProudNukeMom:  I would wait until next week and then contact Sarge if you have not had your RSVP for the MeetandGreet acknowledged.  He has MeetandGreets each week so he may not confirm RSVPs until the week before your PIR.  You can always contact him through his page on this site.  Go to the MEMBERS tab up top and put in Old Sarge.  He has all of his info there.

Other "rules" for watching the Livestream in the Chapel are that there is no eating/drinking allowed (it is allowed in PIR Hall) and children under 18 must have an adult with them.  Also, if the Livestream malfunctions (happens sometimes), you must remain in the Chapel anyway for the full 90 min ceremony....

Good Morning!

I still have not received my confirmation for the meet and greet. Anybody else going that hasn't gotten it?

thank you ellen0502...that helps a lot!

wildcat, If the chapel is available your extra can watch from there, but there are some guidelines for the chapel. Extra guests are escorted to and from the visitors center to the chapel for graduation.

If your "girl" is attending A School in Great Lakes the extra guest will most likely not see her until after she checks in to TSC for school.

If she is not attending A School in GL, your extra guest will not see her until she returns to the visitors center or parking garage with you.

Here is the link to the info on the chapel. Take a good look at it.

Chapel Info

Most hotels are only a few minutes from RTC, and most live stream the ceremony. Staying at the hotel to watch with a few others, you can eat breakfast, have some coffee, chat etc. If the live stream isn't working for some reason, you can get up and walk around. :)
