Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on April 4, 2016 at 1:22pm: Mrents: The sad thing is that even though you may tell your sailor that it is fine to visit you at Navy Lodge, some are scared to go against what their RDCs may have told you....so lets hope that none of the RDCs in this group send this rumor around!

Comment by diannep on April 4, 2016 at 6:49am: If anyone hears "rumors" from their SRs that they (the sailors) are not allowed to visit Navy Lodge during PIR weekend (if family is staying there), it is not true. This rumor flares up every now and then by uninformed RDCs. There is no chit needed during PIR weekend for sailors to visit family there. The chit is only for sailors in A School there who have family members/friends visit at a time other than PIR weekend.

That is the first I have heard of them not allowed to be in the Ohare Hilton....I know many in the past have done that with family members (actually a Navy dad posted this info for the first time on here). Thought that since it is within the airport, it would be allowed. Sorry for the misinformation!

The closest thing you can see of BattleStations activity is the link I put in the BattleStations discussion above....at the end. It was a segment done on CNN a few yrs ago. They DO make a DVD of the PIR service though if you would like to purchase that. Your SR can order it during Bootcamp when ordering piks....or....you can order after PIR with your sailor in the Photo Lab (or call to order 847 578 6205 post-PIR).
