OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The MeetandGreet is not Navy-sponsored so that is the reason it is not in the form letter.  It is put on by Sarge....for the families of the sailors (no sailors will be allowed there).  Go to his page on here, under the MEMBERS tab up top.  Put in Old Sarge.....he has lots of info on his page.

Ladies:  I do not believe it has been confirmed when the Great Lakes area will be changing from blue to white uniforms?    But it usually is not until later April or even early May.  They should be announcing the date soon.

Well my husband and I are so happy. Thursday 3/10/16 we received our son's Form Letter he says he's Ship 03 Div 158 USS Hopper. That made our younger kids laugh because it reminded them of the movie Battleship. HAHA Friday 3/11/16, we received a personal letter from him. He says he's fine everything going good and that he missed everyone especially his siblings. It was a short and sweet letter. All I need to know is that he is doing ok and that is what I got. Until we received our first phone call yesterday. I'll admit, I cried just hearing him cry. But his tears were mainly from being home sick. He misses everyone so much but him knowing just how proud we of him and his accomplishments made him feel so much better. We are all counting the days down to see him on 4/15/16 for graduation. Which brings me to my question... My husband who is a Navy Vet, asked me to find out information on the Met and Greet the night before. I don't recall reading anything about the met and greet in the Form Letter. Just mainly about the graduation/ pass in review. Can anyone who has attended their loved ones graduation already, give me any insides as to the met and greet day. We have a big family going up to at least see him off base. We know that he will only get four tickets and he will possibly ship off after graduation or that next morning for his "A" schooling outside of the state. So we are just wondering, if more family members (our SR's older siblings) will be able to see him at the met and greet or is that strictly for those who have tickets to graduation.

Hoping for calls to all that haven't received one! I agree, Angie-jaxmom. What a relief to hear their voice and know they are having a good time:)
