N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NavyWifeInTraining, DFAS stands for Defense Finance and Accounting Service. Even with an early deposit for a paycheck it would be too many days early, in my opinion, to have a deposit in your account. The day before a "payday" would not be unusual, especially if payday is a weekend, but several days before, I would be a little leery.

Do not spend it  yet, but do contact the DFAS and ask before you do, especially since it is more than you expected.

I am assuming that you are a joint account holder, so call, email, or send a letter to DFAS and ask about it.

Good Morning!
I noticed a deposit in my husband's account was made on 3/11/16 and was listed as "DFAS Cleveland Navy Act". Does anyone know exactly what this is from/for? I know they get their normal paycheck on the 1st and 15th of every month, so I'm curious as to what this is

I feel your pain tanisha4148-I was there too. It was painful to hear so many receiving calls & I was getting nothing. Found out in a letter my son was at dentist when calls were made and then their make-up call time was cancelled as a penalty. He was just as disappointed and sad as I was. Hang in there!

Be ready with those phones starting tomorrow.....calls just may come for some this weekend!  They could start early for those of you on the West Coast....so have the phones by your ear when sleeping!
