For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on March 7, 2016 at 11:32am: Remember that RTC has its own mail facility. So once your letters are delivered there....they have to work their way through that facility which takes awhile. With over 5,000 SRs on base, you can imagine how much mail they deal with!

Comment by June on March 7, 2016 at 9:47am: WE missed three chances to talk to our SR yesterday, she left a message on my phone, her dad's phone and brother's phone. So sad but glad all at the same time. Glad she left us a voice message! It was awesome just hear her voice, and that she is doing well. Dang I miss our girl. Praying we get another opportunity to speak to her.

I forgot to post that we received the box last Wednesday or Thursday. It actually went to his dad (we're divorced) so I didn't know about it right away. But I was always more interested in the letter with his address anyway! Have a great day!

Comment by diannep on March 7, 2016 at 7:56am: AustinsMom: If your SR is in a push division, it is hard to tell what week/day they are on since they follow their own schedule.

Divisions that are not push divisions are all within about 3 days of each other in training.

Remember, ladies, phone calls are pretty random. They can have them scheduled as a division and lose them. They can be rewarded with calls. They may have to make "need info" calls. So keep that phone glued to you at all times! Congrats on the ones who received calls, and hopeful for others in the next week. Sounds like some letters will be going out today for many of you! That means they received the mail that you had already sent. Remember, now they can write on Sundays/mail out on Mondays....but they will receive mail M-F.
