Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by Lauren on March 2, 2016 at 1:48pm: Just missed the call from my boyfriend because I was sleeping. I have the stomach flu. He called me 4 times and left a voicemail. He sounded sad. Does anyone know if they get to call back or was that it? I feel so horrible. He sounded very sad, all I wanted was to hear his voice. I am so sad that I missed it.

Comment by CryptoDad on March 2, 2016 at 12:45pm: My daughter had a miserable time the first half of boot camp. Totally sure she wasn't going to make it. Just keep those encouraging cards and letters flowing. It's tough for them and us but stay positive for her sake. Good luck.

Comment by ellen0502 on March 1, 2016 at 11:33pm: certain93, You will have just a short time after PIR wth your Sailor, he will almost immediately need to go back to his ship at the RTC and move over to the other side for A School. This process takes several hours. When he is ready for liberty on Friday he will call, usually 2pm or after. He will then have until sometime between 8pm and 10pm.

On Sat and Sun he will have all day for liberty, from approx 6am to 10pm. Those hours may be different, but your son will know. Remember they cannot be late getting back to their ship, and in the Navy, on time is late.
