Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks DianneP and CatMom!  I am hoping he paid & they are in my mailbox when I get home! :) We are very excited about PIR.  I am wondering if any of you were told by your Sailor that they have received their orders for after A school?  My son was hoping for Japan, but will not be going there after all.  I don't know if I should say exactly where he'll be going, but he does know.  Anybody else?

Leach73,

It seems you are close enough that she should receive it on Wednesday, so go ahead and mail it to her~~

Also, the safest was to address your graduate right now without messing with ratings/rate is "Sailor!!"

Good Morning!

Thank you ellen0502. I had a letter that I wrote to my SR on Friday but didn't put it in the mail...I live in the Chicagoland area...do you think I can still send it today or should I just keep it and give it to her on Friday?

Angelina -

The Keel – the “yearbook” for your Sailor’s recruit division, sometimes called the Cruise book – includes photos of your Sailor's recruit division and brother division if there was one within a black and white section at the back.

have a safe trip Angelina! Hope to meet you Thursday at the Meet & Greet!
